Richard Archdeacon

Richard Archdeacon is an internationally known expert with over 25 years experience in information security and IT management.

He has been engaged with clients on IT risk in the Middle East and the UK.

Before setting up ExecIA, Richard worked for Symantec for 7 years during which he was responsible for:

  • Running and developing a technical presales and consulting service organisation across Northern Europe
  • Leading the development and initial sales of new services across EMEA and the US
  • M&A identification and integration
  • Advising and implementing strategic information security risk management solutions for customers in the US, Europe, South Africa and the Middle East.
  • Creating an internal Public Sector bid
  • Developing risk reporting tools and systems for benchmarking organizations' response to IT risk and its management
  • Delivering workshops on IT Risk Management
  • Providing thought-leadership across Europe and the US for Symantec in the area of the management of information security risk
  • Leading consulting teams in the delivery of security operational tools and processes
  • Provided security briefings to organisations such as the EU Commission as well as ministerial briefings in the House of Commons
Before joining Symantec, Richard worked for several years at the BBC, developing and implementing major IT transformation programmes using PRINCE based methodologies to manage project risk in critical broadcast environments.

Prior to working at the BBC Richard spent 11 years establishing and managing a high level consulting company specialising on executive reporting systems for clients in the financial, retail, pharmaceutical and healthcare markets.

He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and has made many appearances as a spokesman on television, radio and in the press on issues concerning IT security and risk. He is a member of the Accreditation Committee of the IISP.

Guy Bunker

Guy Bunker

Dr. Guy Bunker is an internationally renowned expert with over 20 years experience in information security and IT management.

Guy has been engaged with clients on IT risk in the Middle East and the EU. He has recently co-authored the European Network and Security Agency (ENISA) report on cloud security and is working with them on the Common Assurance Metric (CAM) project.

Before becoming an independent consultant Guy was Chief Scientist for Symantec (previously Veritas). His 13 years at Symantec/Veritas gave rise to a large number of projects, latterly he was responsible for:

  • Developing the Symantec cloud computing technical strategy
  • Leading a multi-disciplinary team for the purchase and integration of major OEM technologies
  • Advising global companies future IT strategies and trends.
  • Working with customers to maximize their investment. Chaired the Customer Advisory Board (EMEA 3 years, USA 4 years)
  • Leading the technical due diligence and subsequent integration for a number of $100m+ acquisitions
  • Delivering workshops and seminars on IT trends
  • Contributing to a number of EU initiatives, including FORWARD and ENISA
  • Leading international engineering and research teams to deliver world class products and prototypes
Prior to being acquired by Symantec, Guy worked for Veritas where he was CTO of the Application and Service Management Division. Prior to Symantec/Veritas he worked for Oracle, designing and developing their Business Process Remodelling tools as part of the CASE tool set.

Guy is a frequent invited speaker at conferences, including RSA, EuroCloud and InfoSec. He has made many appearances as an IT expert on television, radio and in the press. He is a spokesperson for The Jericho Forum and an expert for the European Network and Security Agency (ENISA) and the Enterprise Privacy Group (EPG).

Guy has written a number of books on Utility Computing and Data Loss Prevention. His new book on backup will be published later this year. He won ‘Best Security Blog 2009’ from Computer Weekly and a Sabre Award 2009 from the Holmes Report. Guy holds a number of US patents and is a Chartered Engineer with the IET.

Jeremy Ward

Jeremy Ward is a senior, internationally recognized expert with 27 years’ experience in information security.

Before setting up ExecIA, Jeremy Ward worked for Symantec for 8 years, among other achievements:

  • Developing and implementing strategic information security risk management processes for customers in Europe and the Middle East
  • Developing risk reporting tools and systems for benchmarking organizations’ response to IT risk and its management
  • Developing new consulting products based around ISO 27002
  • Providing thought-leadership for Symantec in the development of novel approaches to the understanding of the dynamic management of information security risk
  • Working with national and international public bodies such as the OECD, ENISA, CBI and BERR
  • Achieving ISO 27001 certification for Symantec’s Secure Operations Centres in the UK, USA, Germany and Australia

Before joining Symantec, Jeremy worked for two years in the UK government Cabinet Office, developing and implementing government strategy on information security for IT systems in government.

Prior to joining the Cabinet Office, Jeremy spent 16 years working for the UK government on highly classified projects involving intelligence analysis, personnel security, technical operations and IT systems.

Jeremy has published a number of articles on information security risk management. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and is an academic lecturer and reviewer.

Jeremy has been chairman of the European Network Information Security Agency’s risk assessment and management working group.
